What was one of the first things you ever learned from your parents? Don’t trust strangers and don’t even dare to go into their vehicle, not even if they offer you candy. A simple rule, right? Avoid strangers, don’t get into random vehicles and you’ll be safe. And when you grow up, you want to go out with your friends and stay until late and your parents have a fantastic solution. Introducing taxis, a service offered by strangers based on the complete opposite to the before mentioned rule: Trust the stranger, get into their car and trust them you’ll get to where you need to go.
Liberty is a gift from God, but sometimes it is a curse. While the town of Split is the most beautiful town in the world, a lot of people have their experiences in the town ruined by taxi drivers. The local taxi drivers have taken the liberty of determining their prices, based on the rules and regulations they set themselves. The liberty that they have has gone to absolutely absurd prices, exaggerated fare prices that often tend to ruin even the most wonderful days in our wonderful town.
I’ve been working in hospitality for a decade now and I’ve seen countless people traumatized and angered by horrendously elevated prices of their fares. Every summer there are countless cases of the taxi drivers scamming people and these stories end up in the news and articles online. These stories and articles paint an ill painting over our town and cast a dark cloud over our sunny town.
Not all heroes wear capes. Some come in the form of taxi fare apps. Introducing Uber and Bolt: cheap, affordable, reliable and easy to use applications that allow its users to get to any point of interest within minutes, for a fraction of what you’d pay to the Split taxi drivers (whose mission is to split your wallet).
